Sampling the Dhammapada
I’ve been spending some time reading verses from The Dhammapada. Perhaps it’s just the presentation of this translation, but it really has a similar vibe to the Tao Te Ching; eliminating the toxic, dense noise of the material world. Here’s a passage from The Path:
When through insight a person sees
all fabrications are impermanent,
then in pain he turns away.
The is the path to purification. When through insight a person sees
all fabrications are painful,
then in pain he turns away.
The is the path to purification. When through insight a person sees
all fabrications are nonsubstantial,
then in pain he turns away.
The is the path to purification.
I think this text has a somewhat different tone than the Tao te Ching, and one I don’t like quite as much, but it’s hard to put my finger on it.
